The 152nd Kentucky Derby on May 2 2026 produced one of the most extraordinary stories in American horse racing history. Golden Tempo — a 23-1 longshot trained by Cherie DeVaux and ridden by José Ortiz — went from last to first to win the Run for the Roses at Churchill Downs in Louisville Kentucky. Cherie DeVaux became the first female trainer in history to win the Kentucky Derby.
Golden Tempo then won the 158th Belmont Stakes at Saratoga Race Course on June 6 2026 — making Cherie DeVaux the first female trainer to win multiple Triple Crown races in a single season. The Preakness Stakes on May 16 2026 was won by Napoleon Solo at Laurel Park — the first time in the race's 151-year history that the Preakness was held away from Pimlico as the historic Baltimore track undergoes complete reconstruction.
The new Belmont Park reopens September 18 2026. The Preakness returns to the rebuilt Pimlico in 2027. The era of the modern Triple Crown has arrived — and CETV will be there for every moment of it.
