John Vivyan plays Joe Adams — the most charming professional gambler ever committed to film — running the Fortuna casino ship anchored in international waters just beyond the California coast. Ross Martin co-stars as Andamo. And Henry Mancini composed a score so extraordinary it reached the Billboard album top ten.
Mr. Lucky ran for one season and 34 episodes on CBS before sponsors forced Blake Edwards to convert the floating casino into a restaurant. Blake Edwards was so furious he removed his own name from the credits. The ratings immediately dropped. The casino was the show.
